Serving Osprey for over a Century.
The land for our community cemetery (located directly behind our church buildings) was deeded by Bertha Honore Palmer to the First Baptist Church of Osprey in 1914. Recognizing the value of this history and heritage, our church continues to maintain and oversee the cemetery as a service to our community.
Your loved ones deserve a well-kept, reverent resting place.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Who can reserve graves in the Osprey Cemetery?
- Active members of First Baptist Church of Osprey and/or permanent residents of Osprey. Contact the church for an application.
- Is there a fee for reserving a grave?
- Yes, there is a burial rights fee for reserving a grave in the cemetery for the purpose of full body burial or interment or cremated remains. Contact the cemetery committee for current fee information.
- When I pay a burial rights fee do I receive a deed like when I purchase real estate?
- No, when you pay a burial rights fee you are reserving the "right to" be buried in the space, rather than acquiring the group itself. The cemetery ground remains the property and responsibility of the Osprey Cemetery.
- Who can use the grave(s) I reserve? What if I need to change the name on a grave?
- The grave site can be used by the original owner or their immediate family (spouse and dependent children/grandchildren). It is important that you notify the cemetery committee of the name for whom each grave is reserved and when you decide to change the name on a grave. It is also important to notify the cemetery when you have a change of address to help us keep our records maintained.
- Can I sell my grave?
- No, the rules and regulations of Osprey Cemetery do not permit the selling or transferring of graves. Graves remaining or unwanted may be donated back to the cemetery for others to use.
- Can I bequeath my grave to anyone other than immediate family members?
- No, the grave is for use by the original owner and their immediate family only .
- If I have cremated remains of a family member, can I dig a hole and place their cremated remains in the cemetery grave myself?

- Do I need to purchase a burial vault?
- Yes, a vault is required for all burials.
- Must my grave have a headstone/marker?
